SC 1034 is a World War II Sub-chaser that was built in Sturgeon Bay, WI in 1942.
The model is in 1/16 scale (3/4" = 1'-0"), it is 83" long and was built from the original U.S. Navy plans.
The model is now part of the Door County Maritime Museum in Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin
The museum is across the bay from where the original SC 1034 was built by Peterson Marine.
SC 1034 first was deployed off the Aleutian Islands, then later to the south pacific. My dad got on the ship the week the war ended in August 1945. After that they survived a very famous Typhoon Louise at Buckner Bay in Okinawa. They returned to Treasure Island Naval Base in 1946 where the ship was decommissioned - Richard Rebicek
